Creating Custom Stages

Stages are a way to see the health of your candidate pipeline at a glance. By default, TalentBin ships with a number of commonly used stages which cover most scenarios. These are:
  • Promising
  • Attempting to contact
  • In Discussion
  • Phone screen
  • Interview
  • Offered
  • Hired
  • Future Opportunity
  • Bad Fit
  • Not Interested
However, you may wish to add additional stages specific to your workflow or even rename or remove some of the existing stages.

To manage your stages, click on the arrow to the right of your name and choose 'Account preferences', then select Mange stages, as seen below.

From here, you'll see all of your existing stages.

Important Note: We do not recommend removing either the Attempting to contact or In Discussion stages. There is automated behavior that moves candidates into these stages which will be broken if you do.

Candidates are automatically placed in the 'Attempting to contact' stage whenever you reach out to them.

Candidates are automatically placed in the 'In Discussion' stage whenever they reply to your outreach.

Whether a stage is opened, closed, closed won, closed future opportunity, or closed lost determines whether it will be open by default in manage tab. By default, only stages flagged open will be checked and loaded automatically whenever a pipeline folder is chosen.

To create a new stage, simply type in the name of the stage to the left and choose the stage category and then click on the 'Add New Stage' button.

Note: Custom stage names are limited to 32 characters.

Now, let's take a look at a real-world example of a custom stage. One you could make could be called 'Waiting for Email.' This would be an open stage and one you would place a candidate into after requesting a missing email address via the Email Concierge team.
